Elect Sheri Clark for City Council of Washington, NC
Sheri Clark

VOTE Sheri Clark for Washington, NC City Council

  1. REPEAL PROPERTY TAX INCREASE
By the Present City Council is the FIRST PRIORITY!

The Citizens of Washington don't need high taxes. High Taxes are counter to a thriving economy especially, for small businesses. Small Businesses are essential to the small town draw that promotes Washington as a destination for tourists, boaters, retirees and families.

  2. REDUCE UTILITIES
By eliminating waste & fraud from government spending!

Government should be LEAN and CLEAN. The Citizens of Washington want an efficient governance and reliable utilities. I will advocate for research to achieve quality services with common sense spending from the proper competition for energy supply. I am against any move toward smart meters or other technology that is not safe.

  3. BRING NEW BUSINESS
    By simplifying inspections & permitting!

Entrepreneurs with quality products and services will not invest when there is an unfriendly bureaucracy in place. Reaching out to our business owners who want to expand as well as new businesses bring better paying jobs. More jobs reduces poverty which reduces crime. Thriving business brings a broader tax base to the city and will balance out property tax reduction.

  4. SERVICES FOR SENIORS
By continuing improvements in present services plus adding new businesses as the community of retired citizens increases!

This includes healthcare, home care & recreation. Our seniors need the input especially from our local churches to be in communication with the city on the need of those in crisis, those who need a reprieve while recovering from surgery and treatments. One ordinance in particular needs to be repealed on the fines for not doing lawn maintenance. Let's be humane and look after the aging among us.

  5. WATERFRONT WELLNESS
By structuring our waterfront to generate revenue to be held for maintenance & near future improvements to maintain the docks and adjoining parks!

The success Washington Waterfront is dependent on fiscal wisdom about the future of providing boaters with services. Our parks and their use need a more helpful signage to encourage everyone to be respectful and responsible in the use of our pavilions, boardwalk, benches and playground.

  6. HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT
By taking a thorough look at the quality of our water, which has been my concern for 25years as a city resident!

All the factors for poor water quality need to be determined, each one addressed. Do we need to develop stages for an infrastructure plan that will address this health issue? I hope for a resounding YES from the mayor, all city council members, city staff in our water department and citizens. We all need water, quality water to be healthy. The healthier we are, the happier and more productive we can be.

  7. NEIGHBORHOOD WELLNESS
By asking for each of our neighborhoods to provide a list of the top 3 priorities for improvements needed!

Each neighborhood could have a gathering of their liking to decide what to put as their 3 top priorities for the council to know. We all want to have a voice and as a city council member, I will want to address the needs most on our citizens' minds.
